Do You Get It?

Good evening everyone and no one,

This is a song I’ve been working gleefully on for the past week–it’s also a school assignment. This sort of combination of gleefullness and school assignment is always a nice change of pace. You know, doing something in school that you actually enjoy doing.

Anyway.

This song is about two-thirds of my demo reel–a supposed tell-all about my “many skills”–I’ve made this piece to try and show that I cAn MaeK tEh SonGZ.

The other third of my reel is going to be a video to accompany the song to try and really drive home the imagery. I hope you can imagine.

Anyway.

Without seeing the video (which doesn’t exist at the moment), I want to know if y’all get what I’m trying to do.

Well…

Do you?

Grandma Wind’s Adventure

This song is from 2006.  That’s a long time ago.  It’s especially long considering I only started writing music in 2004.  The distance measure during an artist’s first couple of years is surely uncomparable to an equal distance measure later on.

Or so I believe anyway.

So this song is about an old lady that everyone loves and who loves to love.  She bakes cookies for her grandchildren and her grandchildren’s friends.  She wakes up early to read the newspaper and water the plants.  She loves to love.

Sometimes though, in the afternoon or in the evening, she turns into the wind and blows away.  She travels according to principles of hot and cold air masses–going wherever she goes.  She is grateful for her time as wind.

This song is also quite ethnic.  It’s more ethnic than your local Chinese restaurant.

Space Pervader

I wrote this song a while back in June to thoughts of space men destroying each other with sophisticated weapons.  I imagine them fighting over nothing in particular and doing it at high-speed.  This sort of behavior is oddly similar to that of highschool girls.

You may notice yourself bobbing to the song, and then suddenly not bobbing to the song.  This is because the song is in 5/4.  That means it’s harder to bob to.

You may also notice around 3:36 a piano pattern eerily similar to Burt Bacharach’s What the World Needs Now Is Love.  This is a perfectly explainable coincidence.  Simply, I listen to Burt Bacharach in my sleep.  You may also not notice this, in which case I’ll be happier.

You’ll notice that the album is so far unknown, hence, not discovered. The exclamation mark makes it seem more urgent.
