New Hotness / Between Frogs Remastered
In respect to today’s possibly-all-time-highest-temperature-ever-recorded scorching day in Toronto (38 degrees!), here is a remastered version of Between Frogs. As I learn more about music production I’m able to go back sometimes and see where I can make things hotter. I also had an inclination to do another Mother 3 arrangement (though I haven’t decided which one) and what better way to prep for the future than to revisit the past.
Between Frogs is one of my favourite musical collaborations I’ve done yet, with Warren Bray’s sizzling bass and Chris Semoff’s hot flash guitar. The song is essentially a cover of a Shogo Sakai song called Happy Town? from the game Mother 3 (with some added jamming on our parts). Enjoy, and listen in a cool, dry environment.
Warning: We Want Real Money
Quartered does not beat around the bush. The Canadian Immigration and Citizenship Centre, the Architects of the Complex and Your Application Experience, want your real money. The money that you actually work hard for, or borrow from your real-life parents.
None of this is a secret. As such the game opens with a warning:
N/A
If it doesn’t apply to you, then mark in the provided space “Not Applicable.” If you do not write “Not Applicable,” but instead leave the area blank we will return your application to you, which will cause delays. If there is no clear space, but say, a series of checkboxes that do not apply to you, then you’ll have to figure that out on your own. We may or may not understand what you mean; either way it will cause delays.
Filling out an immigration package is hard work, and there are many wrong turns awaiting if you do not proceed with the utmost care. In Quartered, after the hero invariably makes a wrong turn, the immigration complex alarm sounds and the self-destruct sequence is initiated.
Micro Crack
This song is a companion piece to Fibre Vomit, meant to be played immediately afterwards. Here the hero has fallen into the basement of the immigration complex, possibly through a micro crack. Things underground are even more dishevelled than normal.
A micro crack is what can occur to paper when it is unable to expand and contract freely while mounted to a rigid support, such as what happened to this resin coated paper that had an inkjet printed ink covering the surface, with accelerated aging for approximately 20 years.
Special thanks to Master Tessa for the picture and explanation.
